Apartment & Condo Moving

High-rises on the Plaza, lofts downtown, walk-ups in Westport: our crew knows the elevators, the docks, and the COI paperwork.

Apartment and condo moves are their own skill in Kansas City. The Country Club Plaza and Crossroads high-rises have reserved freight elevators and dock hours; the Westport walk-ups have no elevator at all. David’s Moving Company sends a crew that has done all of it.

We handle the building side too: certificates of insurance, elevator reservations, and the move-in window your property manager needs, so your moving day doesn’t stall in the lobby.

The fastest way to lose an afternoon is to show up at a Plaza tower without a reserved elevator, or to discover the Crossroads loft building only allows dock loading before noon. We’ve moved enough River Market and downtown units to know the routine: we call the building ahead, lock the freight elevator window, and pad the lobby and elevator cab before the first box goes up.

Walk-ups are the other half of KC apartment life. The brick three-stories around Westport and Hyde Park mean real stair work, so we send a crew sized for the climb and protect the shared stairwell on the way down.

What apartment buildings ask for

Most managed buildings won’t let a mover past the loading dock without paperwork. We have it ready.

Certificate of insurance

We issue a COI naming your building exactly the way management requires, usually within a day.

Elevator reservation

We coordinate the freight-elevator window and dock hours so the cab is yours, not shared.

Lobby & cab protection

Floor runners, corner guards, and elevator pads keep the common areas spotless and your deposit safe.

What it costs

Apartment moves price the same honest way as any local job, hourly or a flat band, with gear included.

Unit size Typical flat band
Studio loft $320–$520
1-bedroom $540–$880
2-bedroom condo $920–$1,480

Or book hourly: $129/hr for two movers, $169/hr for three. A $99 deposit holds your date and comes off the total.

What’s NOT included

  • The building’s own elevator deposit or move-in fee; that’s between you and management.
  • Packing your kitchen and closets, unless you add full-pack or partial-pack (from $360).
  • Specialty pieces like a console piano up a tight stairwell, quoted from $329.
  • Disposal of the boxes afterward, though we’ll break them down and stack them for you.

However your building is set up, we plan the access first and carry the up-to-$1,000,000 cargo coverage every shipment gets, with $0.60/lb released value standard and full-value protection available.

What’s included

Everything our crew brings on move day — no add-ons, no surprises.

  • A certificate of insurance issued to your building’s exact requirements
  • Freight-elevator reservation and loading-dock hours coordinated in advance
  • Lobby, hallway, and elevator-cab protection to safeguard your deposit
  • A crew sized for the stairs on Westport and Hyde Park walk-ups
  • Hourly ($129/$169) or flat-band pricing with all gear included
  • Up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment; $0.60/lb released value standard

Common questions

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for my building?
Yes, and it’s routine for us. Send us your building’s requirements and we’ll issue a COI naming the property the way management asks, usually within a day, so there’s no holdup at the dock.
My Plaza high-rise only allows moves during certain hours. Can you work with that?
Absolutely. We reserve the freight elevator and book the loading-dock window with your property manager before moving day, then schedule the crew to fit it. We’ve moved plenty of Plaza and Crossroads units this way.
What about a walk-up with no elevator in Westport?
We send a larger crew for stair-heavy walk-ups so the climb doesn’t drag the job out, and we pad the shared stairwell on the way down. The flights are figured into your written price, not added later.
Are you the actual movers or a service that finds movers?
We’re the actual movers. David’s Moving Company owns the trucks and employs the crew that shows up at your door. We don’t broker your job out to anyone, and every apartment move is done by our own people.

Ready to move with David’s Moving Company?

Tell us your ZIP codes and move date — David or Sara sends back a flat written price the same day. Our own uniformed crew, our own trucks, hired and trained in-house, and the number doesn’t change on move day.
