Local Moving in Kansas City

Our own uniformed crews, our own trucks, and a flat written price before we lift a single box.

David’s Moving Company handles local moves all over the Missouri side of the metro: Brookside, Waldo, Hyde Park, Westport, the Plaza, the Crossroads, and out toward Lee’s Summit and Liberty. The same named crew that loads your home is the crew that unloads it.

I’m David Kessler, and it’s my name on the truck. We quote a flat written price up front, so the number you hear on the phone is the number you pay on moving day.

  • Licensed & insured — US DOT/MC & Missouri MoDOT authority
  • Flat-rate written quotes, no hidden fees

A local move in Kansas City is rarely just “point A to point B.” The century homes around Brookside and Waldo come with narrow back staircases, deep front porches, and no driveway, so the truck parks on the street and we carry. The Plaza and Crossroads buildings have loading-dock hours and tight freight elevators. Our movers grew up working these exact addresses, and we plan the route, the parking, and the protection before the ramp comes down.

Two pricing options, both honest. You can book hourly when the job is simple, or lock a flat band when you’d rather know the total in advance. Either way the pads, dollies, hand tools, and shrink wrap are included, and we put it in writing.

What a Kansas City move actually costs

Our hourly rate covers the crew, the truck, and all the moving gear, with no surprise equipment fees. Most studios and one-bedrooms in KC fit comfortably inside a flat band.

Home size Flat-price band
Studio $320–$520
1-bedroom $540–$880
2-bedroom $920–$1,480
3-bedroom $1,560–$2,400
4-bedroom house $2,200–$3,300

Prefer hourly? A 2-mover crew with a truck is $129/hr; a 3-mover crew is $169/hr. A $99 deposit locks your date and comes straight off the total.

What’s NOT included

So there are no awkward moments on the day, here’s what falls outside a standard local rate:

  • Boxing up your belongings; that’s our separate full-pack or partial-pack service.
  • Pianos, gun safes, and other specialty items (from $329, planned ahead).
  • Disposal or donation runs, and disconnecting appliances or wall-mounted TVs.
  • Long carries or stair fees stacked on quietly. We factor the porch steps and street parking into the written quote instead.

Built for Missouri weather

Hot, humid summers and icy winters are hard on floors and furniture. We bring floor runners, door-jamb pads, and extra wrap, and we keep moving in the heat by rotating the crew and hydrating, so your June move doesn’t slow down because the thermometer hit 95. Every shipment carries up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage, with $0.60/lb released value standard and full-value protection available if you want it.

What’s included

Everything our crew brings on move day — no add-ons, no surprises.

  • Our own employed, uniformed W-2 crew, with no temp staffing and no subcontractors
  • Truck, furniture pads, dollies, straps, and hand tools at no extra charge
  • Disassembly and reassembly of standard beds, tables, and basic furniture
  • Floor and door-jamb protection for porches, stairs, and tight KC entryways
  • A flat written price locked before moving day, with a $99 date deposit applied to the total
  • Up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment; $0.60/lb released value standard

Common questions

Do you charge extra for stairs and street parking in Brookside or Waldo?
No hidden stair or long-carry fees. We know those blocks have no driveways and steep front porches, so we walk the access ahead of time and bake it into your flat written price. The number we quote is the number you pay.
Hourly or flat rate, which should I choose?
If your move is straightforward, hourly often works out cheaper at $129/hr for two movers or $169/hr for three. If you’d rather have certainty, we’ll lock a flat band so the total can’t drift. Nate, our estimator, will tell you honestly which fits your home.
Is there a minimum charge?
We have a modest minimum that covers showing up, loading, and travel within the metro. Smaller studio and one-bedroom moves almost always land inside the flat band, so you’ll see your full price before you book.
Are you a real moving company or a broker?
We’re a real moving company. David’s Moving Company runs its own trucks with its own uniformed, employed movers, and we carry US DOT/MC authority plus Missouri household-goods operating authority. We are not a broker, and our own crew does every job.
